Blanquita Microlending

Blanquita Microlending is Blanquita Foundation's own fair-lending program. We put honest, affordable capital in the hands of rural Guatemalan entrepreneurs — and because they repay, the fund grows and reaches the next family, and the next.

Fund a Microloan See How It Works

For most rural families, the only credit available comes from predatory lenders charging crushing rates that trap them in debt.

Blanquita Microlending is the opposite. It is a fair, transparent loan fund we run ourselves — seeded by the foundation and grown by the generosity of donors. We do not exist to profit off the poor; we exist to give them a real chance, on terms built around their lives. Every loan that comes back makes the fund a little bigger, so the same generosity keeps working, family after family, year after year.

How Blanquita Microlending works

The loan fund

Blanquita Microlending is one revolving pool of fair capital — seeded by Blanquita Foundation and grown by donor gifts. Donations are charitable gifts, not loans: you are not repaid, but your gift is never used up. It becomes a loan, comes back, and becomes another loan.

We find and prepare borrowers

Our team on the ground in Guatemala identifies hardworking entrepreneurs — women, farmers, market vendors, makers — who have a viable plan but no access to fair credit. Before any money moves, they complete free business and financial training.

A fair loan, right-sized to the business

We match the loan and its repayment term to how the business actually earns — a market vendor flipping inventory borrows for weeks; a shop or artisan for a few months; a farmer for a full harvest cycle. One fair, transparent rate. Never predatory, never compounding, never seizing the essentials a family needs to live.

Funds are delivered safely and legally

Capital reaches the borrower through our team and a licensed local partner, handled in accordance with Guatemalan law — so funds arrive safely, on the record, and with dignity.

The borrower invests and grows

The loan goes to work — seeds and tools, inventory, equipment, a market stall. Our team stays close, offering mentorship so the business has the best chance to thrive.

They repay, on their terms

Borrowers repay gradually on a schedule built around their income — not a rigid calendar. Each repayment builds a track record that can qualify them for a larger loan next time.

The fund grows

Every repayment, plus a fair and transparent rate, flows back into Raíces — so the fund grows roots and reaches more families every year. One gift, planted once, keeps bearing fruit.

How a borrower receives funds

If you live in one of the communities we serve, here is the path from your side:

Connect with our team

Our people on the ground meet borrowers within the community. You do not need collateral or a credit history — you need a real plan and a willingness to learn.

Complete free training

You take part in free business and money-management training so the loan has the best chance to succeed — for you and for the families it will help next.

Receive your loan

Once your plan is approved, funds are delivered to you with a clear, fair repayment schedule agreed in advance — sized to your business, with no hidden terms.

Grow — and grow again

As you repay and your business grows, you build a record that can unlock larger loans over time — a ladder, not a trap.
